What is a Blanket Stitch?
It adds a nice, decorative border and is great for hiding the raw edge of your fabric. See my post on how to appliqué by hand, if you are curious about that. It’s also a wonderful stitch for adding an edge to a blanket, hence the name “blanket stitch.”

Watch This Blanket Stitch Tutorial
Learn how to blanket stitch by watching my video below or over on my YouTube channel. It’s pretty easy to do, but it’s definitely easier to learn with a video tutorial. On an appliqué, the stitches that go along the line would not be going through the fabric you are applying. The stitches at the top are what hold the fabric on.
