I haven’t been feeling especially crafty lately, but this Sharpie Easter egg decorating idea popped into my head when I was thinking about making some them with the kids.  Much easier than breaking out all of the messy dye!

I cut these little bunnies out of vinyl with my Silhouette CAMEO.  If you don’t have one, maybe you could find some stickers to use.  (The bunny design is from the Silhouette Online Store – assorted bunnies by Jamie Koay.)

Put the bunnies on some hard-boiled eggs.

Take a sharpie and make little dots around the sticker.  Start close together and then make them further and further apart.

Peel the vinyl off and bam!  You’ve got a bunny egg.  You could even make some cute chickie ones or use the letters of your kids’ names.  So many possibilities!

  1. While Sharpie markers are AP-certified non-toxic, we do not recommend using them on areas of items that may come in contact with food or the mouth. Sharpie has not been tested as an oven proof product and should not be used anywhere where a consumer could possibly ingest the ink. Sharpie markers are only recommended for use on ceramic or glassware when the product is being used for decorative or display purposes.

  4. This idea is so simple but makes such a huge impact! I ADORE it. It’s so sweet. I think this would be a really fun way to decorate easter eggs with kids.

  7. Jessica, I absolutely love your sharpie dots! You could do a post every day on negative stencils and sharpie dots, and I would still love it. It’s seriously wicked cute on those eggs. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful creativity!
