If you have trouble with a French Knot, know that you are not alone. Lot’s of people find Colonial Knots easier, so I decided to make a quick video that will show exactly how to make a Colonial Knot.
The mechanics of the Colonial Knot are a little more difficult, but once you get the hang of it, the Colonial Knot can give more consistent results. It’s very similar to a French Knot, but instead of just wrapping the thread around twice, you make a figure 8 around the needle. Of course, watching a video is always going to be easier, so I made one. You can click the video below or check it out on my YouTube channel.

I’ve never heard of a colonial knot before! I’ll have to try this knot. I don’t have any trouble with French knots but believe that one can’t have too much knowledge.
I’m a first time visitor to your site but love what I’ve seen! I’ll be back often!

@Jessica @ Cutesy Crafts, How and where can I buy some kits? I embroidered the Necklace Kit that I bought in Watson’s Mill & Dickinson House in Manotick 5525 Dickinson St / 1127 Mill St while I was travelling and it is so beautiful I would like to buy more. l

Yes, I always love trying new things. I tried a Chinese knot the other day. Those were harder for me to grasp, but still fun to learn. Thanks for stopping by!
