Allison

Last week a reader emailed me wanting to know if she could use one of my patterns to make items to sell for an online auction.  A friend of hers, named Allison, has Marfan syndrome and just had her third open heart surgery.  You can read more about Allison on her blog and Facebook page.  Three open heart surgeries = lots and lots of medical bills, so the auction proceeds would go to their family to help out with those.  Oh, and did I mention that she is also a mother of three young children?  So, of course, I emailed back saying she was welcome to use the patterns to make items for the auction.

Then I started thinking… Why couldn’t I make some items to donate as well?  Then I started thinking more…  Maybe some of you, my crafty friends, would like to donate items as well?  You would be welcome to use any pattern or tutorial on my blog if you want.  And if not, then at least I could spread the word about this awesome auction, and maybe you could do some of your Christmas shopping there.  The auction will be held December 9th – 11th.  They will have updates on the Facebook page.  If you would like to donate an item or service (think photography sessions) send an email to allisonfaithhopeheart (at) gmail (dot) com.

I am going to be donating a couple of the birthday crowns that I used to make.  I don’t sell them anymore, so if you want one, this may be your chance.

If anything at all, go check out Allison’s blog about her life with Marfan syndrome and go like the facebook page that her friends have started for her.  Share her story and spread the word about the auction.  I don’t know about you but I have a hard enough time being a mom, and I am healthy.  I can’t image the physical, emotional, and financial strain that must burden Allison and her family every day.  If my silly crafting can help out in some small way, then I will do it gladly.

Jessica, This is Sarah again. I have been devastated by the Syrian Refugee Crisis and have been working with a woman from Salt Lake to start a non profit "project hope 4 kids" on Facebook and Instagram to create a mother baby station and children's activity tent in an Syrian refugee camp in Greece called Camp Filippiada. I am wondering if you would like to donate any items that I could auction off on our Instagram page @projecthope4kids. I'm doing some one day auctions over the next little while. You can check out our page on Instagram or Facebook. If you want to donate please let me know on our IG page (comment on a post, DM me) or reply here or email me inthemiddleofthis@gmail.com. And thank you SO very much.

Hi Sarah. I love that you are doing something to help such a great cause. Unfortunately I'm taking a bit of a break from crafts. All of my supplies are completely packed up since we are moving in a few weeks. If you are still doing something in a couple of months, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. :)

Thanks so much Amy! You are awesome! I was hoping that even if just a couple people shared, we could help spread the word that much more.
